Brazil Region’s Sugar Output to Rise to 34.6 Mln Tons This Year
Sugar output in Brazil’s Center South, the world’s largest producing region, will rise 3.3 percent this year, the Unica industry association said.
Output of the sweetener will rise to 34.6 million metric tons, from 33.5 million tons last year, Unica said in a report distributed today in Sao Paulo.
The sugar-cane harvest in the Center-South, where about 90 percent of country’s sugar and ethanol is produced, will increase to 568.5 million tons, from 556.7 million tons. Ethanol output will rise to 25.5 billion liters from 25.4 billion a year ago, Unica said.
