Sugar price to increase
THE Fiji Sugar Corporation has contacted the Commerce Commission regarding raising the price of imported sugar.
FSC executive chairman Abdul Khan had earlier said the corporation would sustain huge losses if the imported sugar selling price was not lifted.
"We have contacted the Commerce Commission and have provided them with the relevant documentation in terms of our imported sugar price," Mr Khan said.
Commerce Commission chief executive officer Bobby Maharaj acknowledged receipt of communication from FSC. He said it was up to FSC to put the set mark-up of 4 per cent on the landed cost of sugar.
